Vegan Egg Poriyal / முட்டை பொரியல்

Egg Poriyal is a flavorful side dish packed with protein. I grew up eating this with puttu for dinner, but it can also be eaten with rice for lunch. It’s simple to make and tasty!

I haven’t made this for the last 3+ years (since becoming vegan), but now can with Just Egg! Just Egg tastes like egg but is cruelty free and cholesterol free!


Vegan Egg Poriyal

Cook Time 10 minutes
Servings 4 pieces

Ingredients
  

  • ½ Medium Red Onion (வெங்காயம்)
  • 1 Green Chili Pepper (மிளகாய்) Remove seeds to reduce spice
  • ¼ tsp Salt (உப்பு)
  • ¾ cup Just Egg

Instructions
 

  • Dice the onion and green chili pepper.
  • Heat a pan on medium flame and then add a little bit of oil.
  • Add the onions, green pepper, and salt to the pan to cook. Stir regularly to avoid burning.
  • Once the onions become translucent, transfer the mixture to a bowl.
  • Add Just Egg to the bowl and mix well.
  • Then add the mixture in the bowl to the pan and flatten it to make a circle.
  • Let one side cook until it is sturdy enough (about 5-7 mins on low to medium heat) to flip to cook the other side. It can be easier to flip when cut into 4 quarters. Cook on the other side until lightly browned (for about 3 mins).
  • Serve and enjoy with puttu!
