Vengaya Roti / வெங்காய ரொட்டி
Vengaya roti is a great afternoon snack with your tea! It’s so quick to make that I sometimes have this as a meal on a days when I don’t have time to cook.
Vengaya Roti
Ingredients
- 1 Medium Onion (வெங்காயம்)
- 2 Green Chili Peppers (மிளகாய்)
- 1.5 cups All Purpose Flour (கோதுமை மா)
- 3/4 cup Grated Coconut (தேங்காய்ப்பூ) Freshly grated coconut will taste better than the frozen version
- 1 tsp Salt (உப்பு)
- 1/4 cup Water (தண்ணீர்)
Instructions
- Dice onion and green chili peppers into small pieces. Remove the seeds inside the chili peppers before dicing to make less spicy
- Mix onion, chili peppers, flour, and salt in a bowl
- Add freshly grated coconut and mix well
- Slowly add water and continue mixing to get the right consistency.It shouldn’t be sticky
- Make small balls out of the dough and then flatten them into a circular shape
- Cook the rotis on a pan with oil on medium-high heat. Cook each side for about 2 minutes
