Roti / ரொட்டி
A simple roti to make and enjoy with any curry/side of your liking!
Roti
Ingredients
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour (கோதுமை மா)
- ½ tsp Salt (உப்பு)
- 1 tsp Oil (எண்ணெய்)
- 2½ cups Water (தண்ணீர்)
Instructions
- Mix all-purpose flour and salt in a bowl.
- Add oil to the bowl and mix well.
- Add cold water to the bowl ½ cup at a time and mix well to create a dough. You will likely need all 2½ cups, but add slowly to create dough that is not sticky. Knead for about 3 minutes.
- Break the dough into about 10 balls.
- Oil your board and rolling pan.
- Flatten the ball at the center of the board. Roll the roti horizontally, vertically, and then every angle between to make a round roti. The roti should be evenly thin and round.
- Lightly oil a pan and cook the roti for about 2-3 minutes. Cook both sides for about 1-1.5 minutes each. The first roti may take a bit longer to cook. If the roti inflates with air as one side it cooking, deflate it before you flip the roti.
